Poem and photo by Sharon Mollerus
Snowdust brushes my lashes. Hatless, my brains freeze. Cold hands, numb love. I stumble through slushing icefall to the threshold. Melt me.
I don’t know why I still love you or if I even do; tonight I’ve been wading through snowdrifts in heavy boots and somewhere my heart dropped down under the ice crust. Tell me you’ll help me look for it again in first light, because it’s late and dark out, and tonight I just need to know there’s somewhere where I can be warmed. Can I come back in? 2005 |
