Apologia

The sea for green plankton and sharp-
toothed sharks and a campfire for the hobo
in the black woods. And wheatfields and
sunlight and stars at night to guide kings.
Sudden streams in vast torrid deserts.
Leaves that plump with water and churn air
and mothers with warm pulsing wombs.
From least life squirming beneath a rock
to anyheart's unquenching love-longing.
